Program

The power and joy of musical theatre is brought to us from London’s West End, where the young conductor Alfonso Casado, an expert in this genre, works. He wishes us all a Merry Christmas with best-loved melodies: Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio and the latest worldwide success, Frozen.There also songs from classic musicals such as The Sound of Music, Cinderella and Carousel by Rodgers & Hammerstein, as well as more emotional selections like Yentl, which was performed by Barbra Streisand, Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim, Annie, Oliver, and the Oscar-winning When You Believe from The Prince of Egypt. Casado conducts the OBC, transforming these well-known musicals into true symphonies. He will also be accompanied by four stars from the genre: Geronimo Rauch (Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera), Ignasi Vidal (Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables), Julia Möller (Beauty and the Beast, Hair, Les Miserables) and Nina (T’odio amor meu, Company, Mamma Mia!), as well as Granollers Chamber Choir and the Children’s and Youth Choirs of Amics de la Unió.
