Were you longing for a cheerful concert, filled with joyful melodies able to lift your spirits? Don’t miss this programme by the Barcelona Symphony Band, with a morning of amazing music brought to Barcelona all the way from New York. There are over forty theatres in the heart of Manhattan, between Times Square and 7th Avenue. For more than a century, Broadway has attracted audiences from all over the world, and thousands of performances have been given of its most famous productions, such as Chicago or Cabaret.
Most musicals are based on hit movies, like Bernstein’s West Side Story or Cabaret, starring Liza Minelli. Both achieved such fame that they continue to be popular even now. The West End of London has also premiered musicals that were then exported to other cities. Cats is a good example, a musical translated into twenty different languages. Also featured at this concert is On Broadway by Willy Faust, with ten minutes of superb music.
