The fifth year of a festival is like its teenage years: it has moved on from its childhood but has not yet reached complete maturity. The International Percussion Festival of Catalonia, therefore, is growing gradually, but from the historical perspective it could be said that it has achieved most of its aims: staging concerts outside the Auditori in different towns; producing a compilation CD, which, with the fifth edition of the festival, includes a wide range of the best percussion created in Catalonia alongside international names; explaining that percussion has no bounds, with strange instruments making unusual sounds far beyond those of conventional instruments; etc.
A festival, therefore, with the same aim as always: a festival that will never be one for the masses, but one which shortens distances, brings things closer, and one that encourages curiosity, originality, new ideas and quality.
