Presentation
Location
The Educational Service of the Auditori de Barcelona develops its activity in a space with a significant concentration of important musical areas: 3 concert halls, the Barcelona and National Symphony Orchestra of Catalonia (OBC), the Higher School of Music of Catalonia (ESMUC) and the Music Museum. This location means that the actions of the Service are aimed at all areas that have an influence on musical education, not exclusively schools or families.
History
The Auditori Educational Service began to offer performances in October 2000 from a project drawn up by representatives of the Auditori itself, the Barcelona City Hall Institute of Education and the Ministry of Education of the Government of Catalonia. That the project has been defined from the government institutions with competence in education guarantees that it is suitable for the current needs of musical education in our territory. The document Auditori Educational Service Project makes an exhaustive display of the objectives, the philosophy and the areas of action of this service made available to musical education, attending its constant evolution.
Objectives and philosophy
- To be a co-ordinating, dynamising core of everything referring to musical education in Catalonia.
- To promote, incite and accompany in reflection, renewal and change.
- To closen and standardise the relationship between the audience and music.
- To design concerts and activities that facilitate enjoyment of live music for all those attending, from children, the young or adults, whether or not they have culture and musical knowledge.
Lines of action
The offer of actions of the Educational Service is organised in five lines of action that are defined according to the musical education of our surroundings, the existing offer and the characteristics of the place where the service is located.
The lines of action are:
- "The School goes to the Auditori" concert cycle for school groups from 2 to 18
- The "Family concerts" for the family audience
- Participative concerts and activities for different groups
- Training
- Edition and material preparation
With this programme, we seek:
- To impact to interest:
We design and create each of the concerts to thrill to create interest. We address audiences of all ages, from 0 to 90.
- To experience to feel:
We design participative activities for schools of compulsory education, music schools, choirs, family audience and others, so that they might personally experience the fact of “making music” from the stages.
- To learn to love:
Each of the concerts is conceived as an educational project in itself, as in addition to the many musical contents that make it up, complementary sessions and materials are designed such as: a work dossier, a thorough hand programme, a CD, a DVD, a talk, training sessions for teachers, for parents and children, etc.
