Auditori Coral

Mas i Mas Cor Vivaldi Cycle at the L'Auditori
2009/10 Season

The Cor Vivaldi – Petits Cantors de Catalunya was created twenty years ago by pianist Òscar Boada at the IPSI school in Barcelona's Eixample district. Since its creation, it has crossed frontiers, clichés and expectations and has become an internationally acclaimed choir. The Cor Vivaldi has toured and travelled around the world, won major awards, compiled its innovative and eclectic repertoire on ten CDs, collaborated in opera productions at Barcelona’s Liceu opera house and recorded the soundtracks of films by Almodòvar and Balagueró.

The Cor Vivaldi is an ardent flagship promoter of Catalan musical culture, at all times ensuring that the country’s music is heard loud and clear here and all over. A leading performer of our music, since 2004 the choir has commissioned Catalan composers and premiered their works. Consequently, the Cor Vivaldi will start this year’s season of the Mas i Mas Cor Vivaldi Cycle at the Auditori with the absolute premiere of an original creation commissioned from the great composer and performer Eduard Iniesta. To end the year of its twentieth anniversary, the cycle will also include a concert to mark the choir’s twenty years of existence. The concert will be entirely a capella to rediscover the original sound and purity of unaccompanied voices and will end the season singing sardanes to the sound of the cobla!
