We are beginning the fourth season as the Auditori’s resident group with six concerts that demonstrate the consolidation of an increasingly more defined profile of the bcn216. A series of concerts designed to slot into the musical and cultural life of our country and city.
An example of this involvement is the concert dedicated to John Cage taking place the same week as the start of the exhibition of his work at the MACBA and the annual Composers in Barcelona monographic course and concert, organised together with the ESMUC (Catalan Higher Institute of Music) and devoted on this occasion to Estonian Arvo Pärt with the participation of our reference choir (Cor Madrigal) conducted by Mireia Barrera.
We continue to be interested in musicians from other artistic disciplines, such as the latest show created by Heiner Goebbels with texts by Gertrude Stein, Songs of Wars I Have Seen, and the JAPÓ programme that we will be offering at Sonar 2010, where different visual proposals will be illustrated by Japanese and oriental-inspired pieces of music. We are particularly excited about the first collaboration with the ECM series cycle with the presentation concert for the amazing viola soloist Kim Kashkashian, with the piece entitled Neharot Neharot by Betty Olivero.
Finally, the close relationship with the creators is revealed through four commissioned pieces that illustrate current new trends: J.Mestres Quadreny, Octavi Rumbau, Albert Guinovart and Hideki Kozakura.
