L’AUDITORI APROPA. A NEW STAGE

L’Auditori Apropa represents L’Auditori's aim of bringing music to the whole of society, primarily the weakest and most vulnerable groups. It also represents the institution's social responsibility as a public facility in Catalonia.

The socio-educational programme of attendance at concerts for groups at risk of social exclusion began in the 2006-2007 season, with attendance being given to almost the whole of L'Auditori's programme for just 3 euros. This was extended two years later to social groups and healthcare, offering admission to a wide range of performances at very reduced prices.

Since the 2010-2011 season, L’Auditori has invited other facilities in Barcelona to take part in this project, so beginning the Apropa Cultura programme, offering music, theatre, dance and circus, with the participation of the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, the Mercat de les Flors and the Teatre Lliure. The project continues to grow, and Apropa Cultura is starting the 2011-2012 season with the participation of 14 facilities throughout Catalonia offering 2% of their seats to these groups.

Today, besides leading the Apropa Cultura project and its expansion throughout the whole of Catalonia, L’Auditori Apropa has been entrusted with other tasks relating to the social aims of L’Auditori:

• Offer music training for social educators.
• Develop a Virtual Meeting Space to share and publicise music experiences and references in the social sector.
• Extend the preferential price conditions of L’Auditori's programme to Senior Citizens Homes and Centres and Civic Centres.
